The 1st Annual Micronesia’s Got Talent (MGT) Competition is in their second week on Facebook. The competition is the brainchild of Aki Aniol (Chuuk)—as well as Teka Tete, Ozeky Orphin, Gary Suka, Steven Suka , Sarlyn Albert, LouAnn Mori Lopez, Jonathan Ruper, Blessed Ruda, Richie Engichy.
These talent, young Micronesian “wanted to do this to show that Micronesians can unite and come together as one…They also wanted to do it for the sake of the Micronesian youth who love music and want to share their talents. Not just our youth but anyone in general.”
The creators of MGT “want to give back to our people and to the music lovers– a chance to showcase the talent of Micronesia.”
The judges are a dozen of Micronesia’s most talented and established stars, featuring Belau’s own Kendall Titiml! Judging of the contestants is based on: Singing ability (sound, pitch, tune, volume and control), clarity (pronunciation and enunciation of words sung), originality and stage presence/performance.
The competition is in its second week, with one of Palau’s own scoring in the top three. Dee Uehara scored second place with the audience with 1,733 Facebook LIKES (votes) and third place with the judges—with a score of 80 out of a possible 90.
Two other contestants in MGT representing Palau are Tracey Smith and Jeannie Bernardo, both living off-island.
